Obituary for Ted Dirstein

Ted  Dirstein
Ted Passed away on the evening of June 2, 2017 doing what he loved. He died as the result of a private plane crash near the Muskoka Airport. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, his two devoted daughters Laurelea and Karina, step-children Josh Marks and Melodie Champion (Steve), grandchildren Ella, Brodie, Ethan and Sophia, his mother Audrey, brother Bradley and nephews Jeremy and Trevor (Amanda and Jaden).
Ted recently served as a test pilot for the Expedition airplane developed and built in Parry Sound and was currently working with Lake Central in Muskoka as a flight trainer. An accomplished pilot, his flying skills were highly regarded in the aviation industry. His passion for flying was matched by his love of off road motorcycle riding, winning many overall championships in Enduro and cross country competitions. In 1976 he brought home a medal for Team Canada in the world renowned ISDE and has always enjoyed the comradery of organized trail rides with friends and daughter Laurelea.
A Celebration of Ted’s life will be held at the Port Sydney Community Centre on Friday, August 18, 2017 between 4:00 11:00 p.m.
Ted will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and revered friend to all who knew him.
