Obituary for Roy Davies

Roy Davies
Roy Davies “Sr.” Died peacefully after a brief illness, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, ON on June 15, 2018. Roy had recently turned 80 years of age.
Beloved husband of Lillian of Bracebridge, dear father of Doug, and Roy (Tina), and proud grandfather of Harrison and Austin, and brother of Janice and Crystal.
He was born in Toronto, Ontario on May 18 1938.
He graduated technical school, and after a brief station with the RCAF, went to work as a machinist in the GTA. He gradually made his way north, settling in Bracebridge after meeting the love of his life, Lillian Taylor, in 1965. He plied his metalworking magic at a number of local shops and even Alcan Foils, before starting his own business (Bracebridge Machine) in 1985. After his retirement in 2002, he committed his time and wealth of knowledge to the Muskoka Pioneer Power club, and continued his work on unique restorations for himself and others. His passion for research of the industrial revolution led him to become a great resource, and many conversations with Roy would include interesting facts from the “steam era”. He made it possible for so many unique Muskoka boats to continue their life, including the Seguin, and Wanda.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place, and only a small private family ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers,Donations to the SMMH at www.healthmuskoka.ca would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to The Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge. Messages of condolence can be offered to the family at www.reynoldsfuneral.com.

The family would like to thank Roy’s doctors for their dedication and compassion, and the nursing staff at SMMH for their tireless efforts, and excellent care of Roy during his stays there.
