Obituary for Cecilia Vermay Kauk (Goldner)

Cecilia Vermay Kauk (Goldner)
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Cecilia Kauk in her 95th year. Cecilia was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, William (Bill) Kauk in 1991. She will be dearly missed by her 5 children, Ron of Waubaushene, Dennis (Karen) of Bracebridge, Elaine Baldwin (Chris) of Vancouver, Eric (Kathy) of Bracebridge, and Paul (Nancy) of Barrie. She was predeceased by her sister Pat (2009), her brother Edmund (1952), her mother Delia, and her father Julius. Cecilia leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Germania, moved to Toronto to work at age 20, and met her husband Bill at a dance at the Palais Royale on Lakeshore Blvd. Toronto. They married in 1947, raised their children, and invited Bill’s immigrant parents to live with them, until they died in the late 1960’s.
Cecilia worked at Eaton’s and then Swiss Chalet, until Bill & Cecilia retired to Muskoka in the 1980’s. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Legion of Mary. After Bill’s passing Cecilia volunteered at The Pines for a decade.
She moved into The Pines in 2012. Her family would like to sincerely thank all the amazing staff at The Pines who were very kind, caring, patient, and professional, in providing her with excellent care for her many final years. We will always remember them and be forever grateful. The family requests that any memorial donations may be made to The Pines Community Support Fund would be greatly appreciated.
Visitation will be at Reynolds Funeral Home ‘Turner Chapel’ on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Parish Prayers will begin at 8:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bracebridge on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Messages of condolence may be left at www.reynoldsfuneral.com
