Obituary for Doreen Mileith Scott

Doreen Mileith Scott
With great sorrow, the family and friends of Doreen Mileith (Mills) Scott announce her death at the Pines in Bracebridge, surrounded by her loved ones on January 21, 2017. She was the last surviving member of the children born to George Edward Mills and Eliza (McBride) Mills pioneers of Muskoka. She was raised on the family homestead in Stoneleigh, McAulay township. She was predeceased by her siblings Marettia, Leila, Elma, Jessie, Clarence, Earl, George and Frieda.

She married the love of her life and best friend Oliver (Ollie) Scott in 1948 (predeceased 1995) and together they became the proud parents of Marilyn (Allan), Lemuel (predeceased 2007), Anne Carroll (John), and Rickey (Diana), doting grandparents of Laura (Paul), Matthew, Heather ( Brad), Jessica and great grandchildren Anna, Adam, Ian and Kevin.

Mom's legacy will always be her lifelong habit of service to all in need and her gracious hospitality extended to all who visited her home. No one ever left without a meal or a cup of tea. Together she and Dad instilled in all of us Christian teachings, the value of hard work, the value of an education and most importantly the importance of being law abiding citizens contributing to society and realization of how fortunate we were to live in Canada, Ontario and Bracebridge. These teachings have been the roots that grounded us all of our lives.

Special thanks to all of her caregivers of Maple Woods at the Pines who were like second family to her and her guardian angels over the past difficult year. Your compassionate, loving and attentive care will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance to celebrate her life will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home Turner Chapel in Bracebridge on Saturday May 6, 2017 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m.

The family requests that donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ontario Arthritis Society for ongoing research be considered if desired. Messages of condolence can be made at www.reynoldsfuneral.com

Rest in Peace Mom. You have earned your well-deserved rest. You will never be forgotten by those who were privileged to know you.
